This visual identity was created to mark the 80th anniversary of the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, originally founded as the Museum of Revolution of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The museum building, designed by architects Boris Magaš, Radovan Horvat, and Edo Šmidihen, is one of the most representative examples of modernist architecture in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The concept highlights the museum’s resilience and continued existence, particularly during the Siege of Sarajevo (1992–1995), when the building stood on the frontline along Sniper Alley and suffered significant damage. The slogan “Museum lives / Muzej živi” emphasizes the institution’s survival and ongoing cultural role.
The visual language combines bold typography and graphic elements that reference both historical and contemporary design aesthetics. The slogan is integrated directly into the visual system, allowing it to be read in two ways: “Museum lives” (Muzej živi) and “Living museum” (Živi muzej). This dual reading reflects the museum as both a surviving institution and an active cultural space.
